I'm going to build a pc for around $800 AUD. I'm looking at an i3 4160 and a 4170 for $7 dollars more. Which is better?

Also, I need held choosing a 1080p monitor that will look good and is cheap.

P.S.: I live in Melbourne, Australia so whatever you choose needs to be available here.

Don`t know about screens over there but yeah the 4170 will be better seeing it is clocked a slight bit higher... But that`s pretty much it, I`d say go for an entry lvl i5 but if it`s heavily outside of your budget then go for the 4170...

Nice, although the GPU is way out of proportion when put up against the CPU.
I'm looking at a 280x vapor-x for ~$300 AUD.

Also, nice choice on the monitor. I can buy for $194 AUD and has 2ms response time.
Also 24 inch.

Trouble with that budget is that you can get an i3 and a 750Ti which matches. But there's not enough to get an i5 and a gtx960 or better.

If you get an i3, there's no use getting anything better than a 750Ti. The i3 wouldn't run games where you could use a stronger CPU for 1080p.

I'm going to agree with i7Baby on the CPU. Try to get your hands on an i5-4460 and pair it with a 750Ti. I own a 750Ti and it plays every available game with decent fps(30+ on graphically demanding games such as BF4 and Crysis) and 40-60 on Witcher 3 and other games. If you can get an i5-4460 and a 750Ti(mine is Asus if I recommend it) you should be good for 1080p. Mine is overclocked to almost maxed so I get more fps than the ones I mentioned above.

Good point. Might just save till next year and get a kick-ass GPU.

P.S. I won't be buying anytime soon, should I hold my breath for the R9 300 series?
