Hello,
I am looking to upgrade my graphics card from Dual ATI AMD radeon 5770, to the Palit Nvidia GeForce 970 4GB (£247.94 on amazon). I was wondering if I would have to change the motherboard or the processer, I think I have the Intel 58X motherboard, and I have the processer Intel Core i7 920. A few months ago I upgraded the ram from 6GB to 24GB(Max). Would their be enough space inside the case, would it fit with the Motherboard, would the processer be able to run it?
The games I am looking to play are Battlefield 4, Project Cars and Minecraft (main games) if anyother recommendations would be ppreciated, I wouldn't want to spend over £250.

No need to change motherboard or processor. As for space open the case and measure to see if a 10" card will fit (long ways). If it does, you're good to go.

For the games it will run those very well; expect good graphics and high FPS.

One last thing, just to be sure...can you list your power supply?

The card should fit then (obviously). Have you opened the case before? You should be able to see the power supply and see how much wattage it provides. This will help determine if you can run the card (although I think you'll be fine anyways considering you were running 2 Radeon cards). Still, I like to be sure :)

Ah, well you should be fine either way. Sorry for making you go through that I just wanted to be sure. The Radeon cards you have, however, take about 100+ watts each so one GTX 970 will be fine as it takes about 150w to run at max. When installing the new card though, don't forget to remove any AMD drivers for the Radeon cards. Don't want any conflicts in the future.

Best of luck!

If I'm correct those are just used for bigger cards to relieve stress on the PCI-e buss slot. The GTX 970 is 10" and shouldn't be too bad on the buss slot. I've seen some builds, like my friend's, where he has a R9 280x from Gigabyte where it's almost a 12" card and he doesn't have a holder. Would it help? Sure. But, nothing bad has happened yet.
