Hi, my computer will randomly restart when I play games. The BIOS will start and tell me something about ASUS Power Surge prevention. I'm thinking it's my power supply, but I'm not certain.
Specs:
GeForce GTS 450
Intel Core i5-2500 @ 3.30GHz
6.00 GB RAM (5.95 GB Usable)
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro

How long are you able to play before it restarts? Does it every do it when doing anything else besides gaming? Is this a newly occurring thing?

Immediately I would think it's either (a) overheating, or (b) your PSU.

Overheating is easy enough to determine. Run HWinfo while playing a game and make sure it saves the logs. Check the all the temperature readings and post them back or put a picture of it. You might need to apply some thermal paste on your GPU or CPU or the CPU heatsink could be loose.

As for the PSU, Sumvision is an absolute crap brand. Take a look at this thread and pick something from one of the better categories. Corsair CX series are cheap and will work well. Even if the PSU is NOT the problem, a new PSU will help you in the long run. GTS 450s needs 22 amps on the 12v line as well as 500ish watts and the Sumvision probably doesn't provide that, but without a model number, I can't give you a definitive answer.

I reapplied thermal paste to both the CPU and the GPU since they weren't new, so I doubt that's the issue. It's usually when I'm gaming, but has only happened on CSGO and Black Ops 2, but when I've played Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Minecraft, it's been fine, so I'm leaning towards it needing more amps on the 12v line. Is the EVGA 100-W1-0500-KR okay to use or should I get something better?
