Hi all,

I apologise for asking as there are lots of questions about this everywhere but I just can't seem to sort my laptop out and it's stressing me out!

I have an acer aspire timeline x 4820t.

It currently has 2 2gb 2rx8 pc3-10600s-9-10-f0.

I know it can only take 8gb in total, and I believe 4gb per slot.

I bought two 4gb pc3L-12800 which I thought might be able to work.

I just tried one out on its own and got the dreaded BSOD. I think its something to do with timing or voltages
however no idea how to change it or even get into bios settings.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Done some research and the Kingston website recommends a discontinued 4GB stick. Differences are that I believe the one I purchased runs at 1.5V rather than 1.35V which my ones do currently. And the new one runs at 1600MHz rather than 1333 or 1066 which the previous ones did.

I am assuming my MOBO cant handle a 1600MHz ram stick or is supplying a too high voltage. I though the BIOS would automatically adjust to this, however I guess not as it is a basic laptop. As I am unsure how to change anything in the BIOS or whether its even possible I'll have a search around online for the exact match.

Its a shame as I am now looking for a 'discontinued' RAM model!! haha
