Yes you read that right.

As part of a research grant last year and for my thesis, I got a K5000 from nVidia for free (yes, very lucky!). Anyways, all of my work is done now and I was wondering if anyone knows how to flash a quadro back into a regular GTX? I don't expect to overclock as the quadro only has one 6 pin connector. It would be fun to get some extra performance out of it though.

Thanks!

Yeah, I understand that you wouldn't want to violate the terms of the agreement you have with Nvidia. Maybe you've already done this but I would check into the details; often the terms of those types of agreements have an expiry date. I was doing testing for Intel a few years ago and received a free board and CPU and the terms stated that I only had to keep them for 1 year and then I could do whatever I wanted with them. Good luck either way.

As this was part of a research grant, I'm not allowed to sell the card. Even if I try to, if nVidia catches me doing it, I'll get in trouble further down the road and will probably never get grants again.

Good point. I guess I'll check that then.
