Does high CPU and GPU heat cause crashes?

I was wondering if high heat caused crashes in games. Im asking this because I installed the MSI afterburner to automatically adjust fan speed on my gpu and my crashes diminished. Any feedback helps thank you.

Yes - high temperatures can cause crashes.

Your CPU should be running at 40C at idle and 60C max while gaming

Your GPU should be running at 50C max at idle and 80C max while gaming

Ok thanks. My gpu was running at like 53C and my cpu was high too.
