I just finished my first built PC! Yay! However I installed the OS (windows 8.1 X64) and I've been following newegg tv on finishing up with drivers and I am so lost.
Heres the MOBO list of drivers:
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97PRO_GAMER/HelpDesk_Download/

Should I install this software?
http://driversinstaller.com/asus.html
Do I need to install all of them? Do I just install a few? I've been searching for about an hour now and cannot figure it out for the life of me! Thank you guys for help in advance

This is my first time using a PC in 10 years, just made the switch from Mac:)

Solution
I prefer to install drivers manually:

1. Install Windows
2. Install drivers on MoBo CD
3. Run Windows Update 26 times (slight exaggeration) or whatever it takes to get done
4. Check driver versions versus latest on web site

Windows generic drivers are poor substitutes for manufacturers genuine drivers. I have had to do many OS reinstalls because windows installed the wrong driver

You will want to install

-Chipset Drivers
-Audio Drivers
-VGA not necessary if using GFX card but why the hell not in case card dies
-LAN
-USB
-SATA

USB 3.1 Boost_V1.08.03 - supports ASUS USB 3.1 PCIE add-on card (no card, not req'd)
CPU-Z - optional
PC Diagnostics - optional
Home Cloud - optional
Gamers 1st - optional
AiSuite - optional, and...
The main drivers you would need is the chipset, lan and audio driver. The rest is optional and depends if you will you a particular feature.
You could use the asus auto-detect utility to find the drivers you need if you prefer that way. You should cross check with the driver download page on the driver and driver version you installing with the auto-detect tool incase it gets the wrong drivers.

The auto-detect feature is the software I linked correct? Honestly, would it hurt if I downloaded them all? I'm new at this so I really don't have a clue on what I'm doing lol

You don't need to download all the files. At most, you be wasting space on your drive.
Leave the BIOS files alone for now but research on how to update the BIOS if you ever need to in the future. If you don't have any issues with your motherboard, you don't need to update your BIOS unless it is urgent.

Rest of utilities are optional and self explanatory

Even if you don't install the drivers, storing them locally is highly recommended (Write to DVD if concerned aboit HD space, tho space is rather small). Sucks when your LAN driver gets borked and you can't go online to get it cause you have no LAN and can't get on internet

Solution
There's two schools of thought here:

A. Some folks like to just d/l the latest drivers from the web site and be done with it. This can get ya a bite on the arse and the more ya spend on the MoBo, the more likely this is to happen and there are more things bundled at this level.

B. I personally prefer to install the drivers on the original CD, then update.

1. I want to establish a "out of the box" working condition for warranty and troubleshooting purposes.

2. Some, at least manufacturer's claim, that some drivers are only compatible with latest BIOS. This comes in handy when tech support (i.e Asus does this) tries to blow you off, by saying the latest driver is only supported if you have the latest BIOS. So determining if it works out of the box can be key when you trying to get things worked out during your 30 day return period.

3. Some Utilities (PC Diagnostics) and programs (DVD Player software) have a license key on the disk which is not included in the upgraded versions

So you prefer to use the MoBo disc then update? But what about when you were saying Windows installs the wrong drivers? Or is that not part of it? Like I said, I'm clueless

Windows seems to get it wrong often with audio and sometimes VGA drivers. I have had to do a complete OS reinstall when it refused to let me install correct audio drivers. Have one box now where my so say a pop up that said new VGA driver and installed it....WU keeps telling me it still needs to be installed and I can't install any other ones.

Use Windows update only to tell you when drivers are available and when they are, review before installing. Only install the "important" updates and review the optional one very carefully. You don't have to let WU do what it wants. The other thing I recommend is to never install updates in day 1.... let others bleed :) If something bad happens there will be lots of news coverage on it and you can avoid the pain.

When XP SP2 came out it crippled just about every architectural and engineering firm in the country as the update borked AutoCADs licensing software and no one could work for almost a week. Musta been nice sitting around getting paid for twiddling your thumbs :)...we escaped cause we hadn't installed the service pack yet.

@Jack
Thanks for the heads-up! Going the MoBo disc route. But what about the discs that came with all my hardware? After I'm done installing the main Drivers from mobo disc, should I pop in my gfx card disc and ssd and hdd disc to look for drivers or is that not something?
