gwiddle's build is AWESOME but you could probably save a few hundred and get 90% of the performance. I just feel like the GTX980 is way overpriced, and is completely unnecessary for 1080p. I recommend dropping to a GTX970 and maybe getting a better case and ssd.

I agree with your thought process, but my idea is that say 4 years from now the 980 will still be able to max the latest games at 1080p for longer than, say, a 970 would.
