We changed out our old modem/router for this new one,the Arrist Touchestone Docsis TG862G,it's been kind of messing up,but I realized that the reason is because I had to plugged into a splitter, instead of directly to the wall outlet. Everything works great now,SpeedTest says I have 22MB download, and 12 ping. Buuut, whenever I play online games, every few seconds it completely stops. Every other player is running in place,I can't move either. This is the only issue I seem to have. I do not have it plugged directly to the computer, but in the room right next to me. It should still have a good connection, because my speeds are blazing fast, and my online ping is still decent, under 100 most of the time.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I don't think I can hook it up directly to my computer without a splitter, which I don't want to do.

You using the wifi on the arris? I have the Arris Modem as well and the wifi on that combo modem/router is garbage. Use a normal wireless router and have the Arris bridged to it. You will have to call Comcast and ask them to bridge the Arris. Should you still have connection problems after that contact comcast and schedule a technician to come out to check the box outside your home. They may need to update your connections.

Bridge? You mean I can use my router combined with the Comcast supplied modem/router combo? I still have my old router, the Linksys WRT54g. I was wondering if I could do that. Will it affect my current downloading speed at all? I get 3 MB/s and I would prefer to keep it that way,it's nearly triple of what I had with my old modem.

A bridge is a bit elaborate. Just set the WAN port on your router to a static IP in the Comcast modem/router's LAN. Then set the Comcast modem/router's DMZ to that static IP address. Then plug the WAN port of your router into a LAN port on the Comcast modem/router.

DMZ just tells the Comcast modem/router to forward all traffic to the static IP address. So it's nearly as good as having your own router directly hooked up to the Internet.

Yes you can use your router combined with the Comcast supplied modem/router combo. You just have to disable the wifi and put the modem into bridged mode otherwise you will be running both your Comcast wifi and your wireless routers which can cause a double nat error I believe. You just plug your wireless router into port 1 on the comcast modem. You can attempt setting this yourself or you can contact comcast and have them put it into bridge mode for you.
