Metro Last Light and Evolve crash and restart computer a few minutes in, or at specific points

GPU: Nvidia GTX 750 Ti
CPU: AMD Fx-4100 Quad Core 3.6GHz
RAM: 8GM

Whenever I launch Evolve or Metro: Last Light the game will crash my entire computer a few minutes in and then restart. I normally run two monitors, however I have tested with both plugged in and only one plugged in. The result becomes that a few minutes into launching the game, the monitors will, each, randomly show either black or a solid (random) color, and then after about 30 seconds the computer will restart

I was able to fix this error temporarily with Metro by changing a setting ingame to do with the PhysX, however now that game always crashes the computer right at a specific part, after a certain door opens and I look down the corridor, which leads me to believe it is unable to render something specific. There is no specific time at which this happens in Evolve, it can be at any point that I have the game up

I have NO idea what causes this issue, and it does not seem to be a problem with anyone else. Please help me fix this, thank you!

For some reason I feel like I remember reading that it came already overclocked, I have no idea how I would check this though. I've never tried overclocking before

Ok, sometimes over locking can cause random crashes, but factory over locks are usually fine.

Fixing crashes is hard because many things can cause it. Do you have anything to report temperatures, power consumption, clocks, etc?

I have a program called CoreTemp. It shows my CPU temperatures in the taskbar, although I usually run fullscreen in games. It should also log other things like that

I cut out stuff that seemed irrelevant or useless for what you wanted to see. And not yet because it crashes when I do so.....it gets annoying to deal with crashes. Also I'm not sure what data to bring out of it

Hmm... I can't see any thing in particular that would cause issues. You have 64-bit OS, a good resolution for your card, and a system that should run cool. All I can say is update drivers, and do the "validate game files" in steam. A reinstall could help in theory, but it I'm out of ideas.

Reinstalling and validating files didn't help. I went ahead and launched it once more, and this time spammed the screenshot button. This was the last screenshot that Steam was able to process before the computer crashed

The crash happens as this door is opening, a few seconds after it has started opening

Ok so it worked. And then it stopped working. And now I'm upset

If your card is only a few months old, it should still be under warranty from the manufacturer. Go to their webpage (msi/gigabyte/asus/ect) and look for the support page, they'll want the serial number of your GPU which will be on a sticker on it somewhere, usually the back.

You can use Event Viewer, but it will likely confirm the same thing. (start > search)
Start the game, let it crash, go check out the latest System and App events in Event Viewer and look for errors.
There will be something in there about your display driver crashing and failing to recover usually.

You can also go into your Advanced System Propoerties and turn off the automatic restarts so you can actually read the BSOD it shows.

I figured out the reason for this, my PSU wasn't delivering enough power. It would overload my system (the cable was burned, we checked the connection) and then a restart came from the system being in suspension
