My CPU is AMD Athlon2 X4 641 Quad Core 2.8Ghz. With 6Gb Ram, it is alo loaded with ATi Radeon HD 5450 graphics. Currently my system is not at all giving me good performance in terms of graphics. Can someone suggest me an upgrade as to which GPU I should go for with my current Processor and RAM, in order to enjoy decent gaming??
I also don't wanna overkill by buying a heavy GPU which end up giving me limited performance as my System will have it's own limits as well.

Please advise me here!

Thank you guys!

Thanks Damric!
I just checked pricing and availability in my locality. Both models are available and have almost same price.
Which one should I opt for?
And do I have to be considerate about my power supply and if yes than how can I compute total power required all together by my system after installing any of the two options!

Thanks much!

Thanks Tea for writing!
r9-285 and similar cards are going too much out of the budget right now for me so I guess I will have to choose from GTX 750 Ti or R7 260x or any similar range card..
Actually I ended up in a rip-off deal, where something else was shown and charged accordingly but something entirely different came in my hands upon delivery and return / claim etc became such a mess that I just let it be and now I am trying to upgrade to a bit that it satisfies me and not be a problem for my pocket as well.

I will definitely get a new system later in July-Aug, but this time I will build my own and will be needing your expert advise then..

Thank you Tea

yeah, the DX12 is worth considering, but depends on how much a used 58xx would cost. I picked up a 5830 for $10 cash because the fan was missing two blades - popped off the hub, popped in another 92mm from some other random fan, and all is good now. a used reference 5870 set me back $50.

$10 is less than the tax on a new 750Ti. totally disposable when DX12 becomes mandatory.

And if you get a 5850, when DX12 does become widespread, there will be another card for that price to take its place. So, instead of spending 100$ now, buy a 50$ card and another 50$ card in the future.

Also, try and see if you can overclock your CPU a little (if you become bottlenecked). 3Ghz to 3.3Ghz should be doable.
