Dear community,

I currently have an AMD Phenom X3 8750 on a Gigabyte M61PME-S2P Motherboard and I am going to upgrade to an AMD FX 6350 and an Asrock 970 Pro3 R2.0 Motherboard.
My main concern is formatting. I have certain files which I can't move or lose. Can I get around all that formatting headache?

Thank you.

If you're just worried about files (photos, documents, save game files, etc.), then all you need to do is back them up. Depending on how much space they take up, you might even be able to get by with a simple DVD-ROM, or you could even spring for a 32GB or 64GB flash drive (under $40-50 apiece).

If you're actually worried about programs & applications, just make sure you have the original installation media (or back up the original installation files, for digital downloads), then when you reinstall Windows from scratch you can reinstall the apps as well.
