The performance difference between Hasswell/Ivybridge to Skylake is minimal.
Intel is pushing more in the direction of energy efficiency and iGPU performance.
If you have dedicated GPU, Skylake is not important and not really an upgrade to any Hasswell/Ivybridge system.
The difference between i7 4770k and i7 4790k is also minimal.

Only if you are bored with lots of cash, then you might want upgrade Hasswell or IvyBridge proc.
On the other hand, you can simply give your money or your current 4770k rig to me.

I mean, are you bored/have you run out of games to play?

Why on earth would you even think about "upgrading" from a 4770K to a 4790K. The increased performance is less than the two models names would even indicate.

It is a totally and utterly pointless waste of money.

Many people won't even go from a 4770K to a new skylake because it will only be 15-20% better AT MOST.

And this is computing power...

Do you even understand how CPUS work in games right now? All of the above models including YOUR cpus are running way above the ceiling of performance and there being any difference AT ALL.

My CPU (in my signature) is running almost all titles exactly as well as yours is or most giving a 3-4 fps penalty. Heck, there are games where my non hyper-threaded CPU gives me MORE performance.

SO your question is actually slightly absurd and the normal, sensible answer is there is no reason whatsoever to upgrade right now and there will possible be no need to upgrade to skylake either...

ESPECIALLY as I know you run a single 144Hz screen on 1920x1080....

Literally...

If you wait till August next year, skylake enthusiast is gonne be released..

Then you can talk about upgrading...However you will need to upgrade to multiple screens and cards for there to be ANY reason to do it...
