Hard drive reaching 100% while seemingly doing little

In the task manager what I assume is the bandwidth of the hard drive is reaching 100% or close even on the desktop. The values for these are normally around 10MB/s. Is there any reason for this, is it normal?

Hi there Dynal,

What is your OS? In case it is Windows 8/8.1, you can disable several Windows services like: Windows Search, Superfetch, BITS.
In case the issue persists, you will need to test the drive with a brand specific testing tool as there may be something wrong with it. If this is the case, it may be a good idea to back up the data stored on it as soon as possible.
