Mic doesn't pick up sound only if i blow in it or tap it?

I have the integrated sound card, realtek HD audio. Nothing is on mute, and the volume is up. I have a asus m5a97 and have all the newest drivers i went thru the BIOS didn't really find anything. I rebooted my comp and its still the same thing. I don't know if its a hardware problem because my speaks work fine, i tried both of the mic inputs front and back.

I just recently used the Asus M5A97 and if you use the realtek drivers that come on the disk your sound and mic can be messed up. Un-install that driver and Download Realteks newest driver from their website (corresponding to the Isoundcard on the motherboard)
Fixed it for my friends PC.
