I have an old custom built pc. It currently has an old Pentium 4 in it and 2gb of ram. It also has a terrible graphics card. T

Pentium 4? at what speed? you will want more RAM, you may need DDR RAM, in which case you will be maxed at 2 GB or perhaps 4 GB if your board supports it. a decent graphics card like a GT 740 is around $75 the new Ram could cost up to $40. with only one or two cores, I think you only have one, you will struggle to play most games, as they now almost all use two or more cores. no GTAV for you... While there is a sentimental value to your build as you made it your self, the only thing I think it will be fit for is a powerful WiFi router (look that up on youtube). you can get the Pentium anniversary for about $50, and a cheap but decent MOBO for $50 or less, and the 740 and 4 to 8 GB of RAM (30-50)and reuse the rest and get much better performance for not that much more. and it will last for a while unlike your current build which even when souped up will fall behind very quickly again.

You did well. If you are not afraid to open your PSU, do it and give it a cleaning to remove dust and check for damaged capacitors. If hey look bulged as in this picture, they won't last long. Ignore what i said if the PSU is less than 4 years old.
