Hello,
So I just installed a new motherboard in my computer; not because it was necessary but because my old mobo just had some little issues that bothered me. Anyway, I just put in an Asus Maximus VI Hero for Z87 chipsets, and everything so far is going well... Except when I plug in a portable drive that I know works with USB 3.0, all file transfers run at USB 2.0 speeds (or what I assume is 2.0 speeds, around 30-40mb/s). I tried downloading the USB 3.0 drivers off Asus's website, but when I tried to launch the .exe it would say something like "system does not meet minimum requirements", which is bull because this is a solid gaming computer (i7-4770, GTX 760, 16GB of 2133hz ram). So I am stumped and was hoping someone here would have some suggestions!
Thanks!
EDIT: I should probably mention that I had trouble with getting USB to work at all in the first place... The instant Windows 7 would start all USB devices would turn off even though they would work in BIOS... What fixed it was turning some option that had "xHCI" in it in BIOS from auto smart to disabled or something like that. USB devices started working in Windows after that point.
