hello
this is going to be my first build and i have around a 1.5k budget.
this is going to be primarily for maya, unity, other autodesk aplications and 3d modeling programs (going to school for computer game design)
as well as testing my games
and playing other games

i want a system that can manage to max out current games (with room for upgrades for years to come)
and the ability to run maya

i have a few ideas of the build i want to put together
as i have always been into gaming and know all the part

just confused as weather or not a firepro/quadro will be worth it?

because i have found people modding a 290x o a firepro 9000 and getting the same drivers and found 8g 290x gpu
would that be a good choice?
maybe have one 290x for gaming and one for maya? or just one for both?

what are your thoughts for a build to those specifications?
i want to get other peoples thoughts before i list my build ideas

Gaming video card is very different from firepro. Both have their pros and cons. Get both. Shrink out on other things.

Very best.

Tom's has an analysis of the FirePro W9000 as a gaming card here; http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/workstation-graphics-card-gaming,review-32643.html. In theory, it should handle gaming very well, but the lack of driver support (from a gaming perspective) will probably bottleneck its performance.

If you don't need the server-oriented features of the W9000 then I'd stick with a single 290X. It will do a good job in both gaming and productivity.
