Stay with 780ti classifieds or go with (2) new 980 Classifieds on sale?

I have an older rig running an i7-980 Extreme chip and a Rampage 3 Mobo which I want to upgrade in the not too distant future. Currently I have an EVGA 780Ti Classified in this rig and another new matching 780Ti classified in the box for SLI. However, the newer 980 Classified's are on sale at Newegg for 15% off until May31st. I can afford buying two new cards with selling the older ones and adding some hard earned scratch to the equation, but I also wanted to order out a new Caselabs Merlin SM8 case for the new computer build? Thanks, and I appreciate your points of view.

So do you guys think the newer 980 Classified are worth it to spring for them now, or should I just run my EVGA 780Ti Classifieds in SLI in the new rig?

New Build: (Gaming Rig) - Running 32" Dell Monitor at 2500 X 1600 Resoution
Intel i7-5930K, maybe an i7-5960x
Asus Rampage V Extreme, or ASRock X99 Extreme1
Corsair 16gb DDR4 Dominator Platinum PC-3000
PSU - EVGA 1600 3000mhz G2
Samsung 850 EVO 500 SSD
Corsair H100i GTX Water Cooled CPU
Sony Blu-Ray

For a gaming rig a 2011 v3 is a total waste of money and gives 0 benefits to gaming. Unless the dell monitor is 100hz+ I would see no reason to get 980's when you already have 780ti's. Here is some benches with 980 sli vs 780 sli, the 780ti will be closer http://www.tweaktown.com/tweakipedia/54/geforce-gtx-980-sli-vs-gtx-780-sli-at-2560x1440/index.html .

Here is some benchmarks comparing 980 sli to 780ti sli, and I would not suggest it http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_980_sli_review,1.html

The 4790k vs 5960x scroll down to gaming bencmarks and you will see an extra $800+ after a more expensive mobo and ddr4 ram will give you no extra performance while gaming. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1260?vs=1317

Disturbed Force - curious then what type of gaming rig you would suggest to build that would provide benefits? I thank you for taking the time to link to those three great articles on the comparison!

Only a sizable investment when doing CPU-Intensive work in my opinion.

I think that will be the answer then.... I would much rather wait for the 6 GB of GDDR5 memory running at a 384-bit wide memory interface over the 980 Classified's lower numbers. Plus, the Ti card will have more shader processing clusters and is suspected to list for about $699, which is where the Classified is at now. No wonder they're marking the Classified's down by 15% to move them out. Thanks everyone!
