CPU: i7 4790k @ 4.4Ghz (turbo)
MB: Asus maximus ranger
Cooling: corsair H105
Case: NZXT h440

its a new pc i built myself.
when i play GTA V the CPU gets to 65-70 degrees.

i tried to replace the stock thermal paste to Arctic MX-4 but nothing changed.
i tried to cap the Voltage to 1.200 still the same( maybe a bit cooler by 1 degree).

i need you to guide me how to configure the motherboard for this CPU.
thanks

I can tell from your HWMonitor results that your voltage is set to Manual voltage. This will result in higher idle temps.

Still a bit high of an idle temp, but the manual voltage and high ambient temperature are the causes of that.

Really want to lower your temps? First of all, find the lowest voltage possible for 4.4 GHz (While maintaining stability). Then switch to adaptive voltage. Adaptive will allow the voltage to adjust to the load of the CPU. For example, at idle my CPU sits at 800 MHz with 0.720 volts. Lower voltage and CPU frequency = lower temperatures.

Do you have the CPU at stock besides the voltage change?

What setting do you have Power Options in Windows set to? I suggest using balanced if it currently is not on balanced.

Edit: Motherboard looks like a Maximus Formula.. most definitely not a Ranger

Also, what is the ambient temperature of the room the computer is in?

what do you mean CPU at stock?
the power settings were Performance mode and i changed it to balanced but nothing happened.
and the picture taken from the internet(too dark in my room), its exactly same setup as mine (except the MB)

ambient temp is about 28-30

By stock, i mean no changes have been made within the BIOS that would effect the operation of the CPU (besides the voltage change to 1.2 V.)
Is the voltage set to manual?

As long as Intel Speed Step Technology is still enabled within BIOS, balanced will allow the CPU to run at a lower frequency at idle/low loads. This will help to lower temperatures.

the voltage is set to manual. it was on auto and reached 1.3v (for no reason)
the temp is now lower by 3-4 degrees when it runs at 800Mhz
but 42C is still high or its just me?

now the temps are awesome!
but i set the amx voltage to 1.200v but it reaches to 1.285v. why?

Those temps are way better! =)

Have you tested to see exactly what voltages your CPU can run at, while maintaining stability? It is best to actually do these tests, so that you know what you CPU needs to achieve these settings as well as know if the system is fully stable. Not running stability/stress tests when overclocking is a big no no.

What program are you using to stress test the CPU?

I also see you have set adaptive for Cache Voltage. That is something i have not done. So far i have just left mine on auto with the cache at 4 GHz and have not had an issue.
