i got the evo 212 and installed it, i checked online before i bought to see if it would fit and people had said it would, but whenever i put it in, the top of the 212 has these small protrusions that stop me from closing the case so to remedy this i had to remove the window part of my case to get the fan to fit, so now the fan is in but the case is partially open so dust is goin to build up faster. Have i installed this wrong? or is there something i can do to make the fan fit and i can put the window part back on my case?

212 evo isn't even very big, how petite is your case?
What I would do is saw off the portruded section of the case lid, and weld or glue on a custom cap, making the cooler fit.

Nah man, its a slider, he won't be able to fit it like that, he will have to fab a portrusion or get a new case.

It'd be cheaper to likely get another cooler. There are several scythe or noctua coolers that are good performers and low profile, or possibly the h7 from cryorig which I believe is shorter than the 212 evo. The 212 evo is 159mm tall, the cryorig h7 performs a bit better, completely clears the ram and is 145mm tall.
