if I convert a D drive in my existing pc (non-boot - just has photos, movies etc on it) to dynamic, can I then install it in another pc as a foreign drive in the future without losing the data?

i.e. will I be able to read the same data on it in the new pc?

thanks

Mark

That's right. As long as the disk is going to be used as a secondary HDD - not as a bootable drive that contains an OS - just install it in "pc2" and you'll be able to access the data on that drive. Of course, if you're NOT interested in accessing the drive's old data and you simply want to use the drive as a new storage/backup drive to contain ONLY data on "pc2", then you can format the drive to delete all the old data on the drive.
There's no need to convert your HDD to dynamic in order to access the files on the drive when it's installed as a secondary HDD in another PC. By & large, except for exceptional circumstances, it's generally a bad idea to ever convert a basic disk to dynamic.

so I can just take it out of pc1 and put it into pc2 and it will show up and be accessible on pc2 for same data?

won't be forced to format it or anything?
