Hello Everyone,

I built my first computer system and I think i am going through a buyers remorse. Is there something I need to do to my computer to optimize the performance? I overclocked it with ez tuning software that comes with Asus Motherboard and it is now 4ghz.

Please let me know what you would done differently on this build. I can return and replace it, if it makes sense.

Thank you!

Solution

I would stick with the 970s, the 980s IMO aren't worth the extra cost.

I am not sure but for some reason when i use gopro studio software to edit my videos it only uses 3gb of ram and I don't even think my CPU is being utilize in full potential. I'm thinking something i did or parts that i chose is not working well together..

I don't have any experience with gopro studio software but it could be due to the hard drive that the video is on. If it's on one of your slowing spinning disk then your CPU could be waiting on the hard drive to deliver content to be processed. A simple test would be to move the video to your SSD and see if there is a jump in CPU usage.

only thing i'd change, would be a personal one... the case..

Phanteks enthoo luxe or pro has easily become my favorite one to use over the last year (3 out of 7 builds done used them). Far easier to keep clean and customize than the HAF cases i've used (912, X, 922)

other than that, enviable setup there... how loud are all those fans?

It is on my SSD. My HDD's only have pictures, documents, movies and completed videos. I usually download the videos to download folder on my computer where my operating systems is on and do all rendering there. Once it is completed i move it to my HDD.

Thanks bud.. Fans are actually really quiet. The loudest ones are the jetflows by my hdd's. I have silent adapter that came with the fans and its not noticeable. I have to say though when it comes on it is pretty loud but just before the beep.

That actually help a lot. I thought it could be gopro software that was bottlenecking my system but clearly using different cpu's increase performance on it. Thanks! Also, I like the end part when it say "gopro users like to record experience not sitting by computer editing" lol

Thanks sizzling, I thought about that.. but 970 sli vs 980 sli only gives like 10-15% difference in performance.. So I decided to go with more powerful cpu, mobo, and ram. What do you think?

Its only an opinion but the extra gpu power and full use of the 4gb vram makes the 980 worth it to me. Not saying anyone is wrong but I think your more likely to use the extra gpu power and vram than you are the extra CPU power but this is based on the systems main purpose being gaming.
