Windows 7

I just installed windows 7 on one of my old machines the other night. Was going to set it up as a media machine. However it only had 2GBDDR2 of ram in it. So today I had a few extra sticks lying around so I thought I'd beef it up.

I put in both the new sticks both 1GB Kingston and now the computer will not boot into windows. It gets to the Windows screen, then blue screens and restarts. I've even taken out all of the "New" ram to try to boot it with the 2 original sticks and nothing. I've even tried one stick and nothing.

I've tried reseting the CMOS and I'm not sure what else to do. The bios doesn't let me play around with voltages or anything.

Can anyone help me?

You could download memtest. It will create a self booting disk. It will allow you to test the memory without Windows. It is quite possible that you have a mis-match in speed, voltage, or both.

See if you can re-establish a functional configuration. Then try ONE stick of new memory. It won't be pretty with one GB but should work. Then try two new sticks. If both old and both new work independently then you probably have a mis-match between them.

Hey Kanewolf, thanks for responding.

I've tried every configuration possible. One stick it still stays in its reboot cycle, it worked fine with the original two just yesterday. Now one wont work.
