Hello everybody,
I just built a new computer with a MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) as my motherboard. I currently have two front case fans plugged into it. System fan 1 and system fan 2. I can only control system fan 1 from my BIOS. I have no other way to control system fan 2. Speedfan is incredibly confusing. Both of my fans are being noisy, and I'd like to just be able to turn them down when not needed. Any ideas at all are appreciated.

Solution
Look in the BIOS for HWmonitor. Check to see if it offers speed control for the 2 x system fan headers. The 4 wire header probably can only be controlled with a 4 wire (PWM) fan. The 3 wire header may have some type of speed option that will work with 3 wire fans, tho.

I've never had much luck with Speedfan on modern boards.

I was just in my bios. I can only change my system fan 1 speed. This is a 3 wire fan that is connected to a 4 pin connector. The other fan is connected to system fan 2, which is a 3 pin connector. I did not see anything in the BIOS for HWmonitor.

Is this your board? http://us.msi.com/product/mb/760GMA-P34-FX.html#hero-overview
...if so, the BIOS should have a section titled H/W Monitor.

OK. Since that is the 4 wire fan, you'll need a PWM fan to plug in that header if you want BIOS to control the speed. The other sys fan apparently has no speed control.
Another option is to use a fan controller. I've used this one to connect 2 x 3 wire fans to a 4 pin header. It allows the PWM/BIOS to control the fans, or the rheostat on the controller to control the fans. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12489/bus-249/Sunbeam_20W_Rheosmart_PCI_Slot_Smart_Fan_Controller_-_PL-RS-PCI.html
Of course, you can go with a full blown multi fan controller that fits in drive bay too if you want to spend more.

So pretty much there is no way to control my fans through the BIOS as is?

What about Speed fan?

I think I am going to throw in the towel. Honestly, my CPU and GPU both run at fine temperatures. Im going to be getting a new CPU cooler to replace my stock fx 6300 one. (I ordered the hyper 212 but it does not fit in my case...will be ordering a new, smaller one.)
My GPU is a EVGA Geforce GTX 960. It does get hot but thats just the nature of the beast. I think I may look to put a GPU cooler in or something...not sure yet.

I unplugged system fan 2 today. RIP dream of two front case fans. Im running system fan 1 at 50% forever now...quiet and so far no issues.
