Hello,

I'm looking to buy a new processor and graphics card as my PC cannot run H1Z1 on any settings.

I have a 300W power supply (Upgrade required), MSI 2AE0 motherboard (FM2 socket), AMD A6 dual core APU and a GeForce GT620 which I don't use because the APU is more stable (Somehow?)

I was going to buy a A10 5800K APU as my CPU and graphics until I found a good GPU but after reading I noticed it wasn't the best for gaming. So my next question is Without upgrading my motherboard what is the best CPU FM2 socket CPU for gaming?

Then as you can imagine, what is a reasonably priced GPU that's good for gaming?

Thank you :)

I think the A10 5800k or 6800k is the most powerful cpu/apu you can use for that motherboard. Do you have a prebuilt system? Imo, it wouldn't be worth it to get the 6800k as it costs a lot more for less than a 5% improvement: http://www.ocaholic.ch/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=1169

There is also the Athlon x4 760k that might work. Basically, you're looking for any cpu's that are "Richland" or "Trinity" : http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1708540/cpu-compatible-amd-fm2-socket.html

Also, do you have a budget in mind?

The only 760K I could find was £160... God knows why.

What about an 860K? It's newer and only £60.

Yes my system is prebuilt, it's a HP something something.....

My budget for a CPU is around £100 maximum, the lower the better actually ;-)

Thanks for the replys.

Oh, then I think the 760k was discontinued or something. It shouldn't be that high.

I would just go ahead and get the A10 5800k. I found one on newegg.uk for £60: http://www.newegg.com/global/uk/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113280

I don't think the Athlon X4 860k will work because it is an FM2+ socket cpu, not FM2. If you can find an A10 6800k for not much more than £60, you can go for that instead of the 5800k.

Two more things. What is your budget for a gpu and what psu do you currently have?

Sorry I didn't reply directly, I was on my phone.

1. Yeah I think it was discontinued, boo!
2. Didn't even notice it was a FM2+, sorry
3. Well, I'm not sure how good this HD5770 I have been given is, but I'll use that if it's half decent teamed up with the A10 quad core.
4. Power supply, not a clue! All I know is that it's 300W.

I have just been given a HD5770 gpu from a friend, I'm not sure if it works or not tho. I get 6 long beeps (MB = MSI2ae0) when I try to boot it up.

It isn't my PC because my onboard & GT620 both work fine, no beeps ect.

Maybe my psu isn't good enough? I think it's 300W.

What psu would you recommend to use this card, and in the future a quad core. Probably the A10 5800K :)

Thanks for the reply!

I think it would be easier to just buy whole new pc. It's hard to find an upgrade on FM2 socket + you would have to replace a lot of the parts anyway. So you might as well get new motherboard, cpu and gpu. Probably also new case as it seems that pc of yours is prebuilt (Hp/Compaq) and small one too.

I agree that it would be easier to just buy a new pc. However, if you are working with a pretty small budget right now, I would get the A10 5800k, a 400-500W psu (assuming you do not own an hp slimline/small series computer), and an AMD R7 270.

A couple things, if you own an HP slimline computer, I wouldn't bother upgrading the psu then. There are a few slimline compatible psu's made by seasonic that you could go for, but I've found the best quality one is also 300w (seasonic is a high quality brand though. The psu in your computer is not). Also, if you own an hp slimline, you will likely have to settle for an nVidia gtx 750 low-profile (there is a low-profile 750ti, but it is way more expensive).

If you are looking to save some money, but can upgrade your psu, the r7 265 is an option that costs slightly less than the r9 270. The only other gpu option I would consider would be the gtx 750ti.

About the HD5770 - you need to download the amd video drivers first, remove your current nvidia drivers, restart your computer, and then install the amd drivers you initially downloaded. However, I would just get a new graphics card. Any of the new cards would be more powerful. Still, the 5770 could be used as a stopgap between the gt620 and your future gpu upgrade if you're not looking to spend all the money right now.

Thanks for the reply,

Right now yes, I really wouldn't like to go ahead and spend £300 on new parts in one lump, unless you're paying ;-)

Is my 300W psu good enough to power this HD5770? I get 6 long beeps if I put it in, nothing on screen, and the fan boots up fast then slows down, over and over.

I'll try download the drivers for it and reinstall it in the morning. Any chance you could find them for me?

:)

I think 6 beeps means a videocard failure. Try downloading the drivers first (make sure you uninstall the current drivers before installing the new ones). You need to go to: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download to download the drivers. You can download the autodetect tool or manually enter in the driver type --> desktop graphics --> Radeon HD Series --> HD 5xxx series --> your operating system --> Display results.

Also, you should check to see if the card requires a 6-pin supplementary power connector. If your psu does not come with one, you'll need to use a 4-pin molex to 6-pin pci-e adapter. Ask your friend if he still has the one that came with his card or see if you have one somewhere. Otherwise, you'll need to buy one.

I don't think it would be a good idea to use the HD5770 for too long though - you'll be stressing out your psu and you should upgrade your psu asap. Is your computer a slimline or a regular sized one?
