downgrade gpu but upgrade ram?

soo im building a budget pc and i was thinking do i need 8gb of ram to game?and also if i want to upgrade my ram i have to downgrade my r9 280 to an r9 270 should i?

Well this is a personal decision. You can play most games with 4GB RAM. Also you can play most games with the R9 280 and with the R9 270.

You can buy RAM later for not much money, but you can't upgrade the 270 to a 280 without spending the full price.
