H100i and AX1200i not working with Corsair Link

Hi, I just finished building my first computer and so far everything's been working fine apart from my Corsair H100i and Corsair AX1200i PSU not showing up in the Corsair Link software at all.

I have two boot drives installed in my system, one with Windows 7 (x64) where both the H100i and the AX1200i shows up just fine (I'm able to see temps, rpms and control the H100i's fans).
But on my other boot drive which has Windows 8.1 Pro (x64) the H100i and AX1200i doesn't even show up in the software.

OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit
MB: Asus X99-E WS
Corsair Link version 3.1.5570 (05/14/2015)

My AX1200i is hooked up to the H100i waterblock through the Corsair Link cable, with the Waterblock being hooked up to the MB's USB 2.0 headers like it's supposed to.

I've searched a bit around and found people complaining about Corsair Link not working with H100i in Windows 8.1 as far back as 2013, but found no straightforward and permanent solutions to this problem. Surely Corsair must have fixed this by now? Windows 8.1 is more than one and a half years old after all and the latest version of Corsair Link is dated 14th May 2015. :??:

I chose Corsair specifically for the integrated Link solution. So I guess my question is what should I do?

Solution
Under Known Issues:
Registry edits needed to correctly discover certain USB devices (H80i and H100i) are not being correctly installed on some Win 8 systems. Manually editing the registry on these systems is still needed. (http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=125350)

So after more than 1,5 years with Windows 8.1 and a new version of Corsair Link being released only a couple of weeks ago registry edits are still Corsair's only solution for this? :??:

I guess I'll have to give it a go if that's really the only solution, but I don't understand why Corsair haven't manage to fix this issue after 1,5 years. It effectively renders all their 'i' labeled hardware useless on a Windows 8.1 computer. If I knew this prior to making my purchases I would definitely not have gone with Corsair products.

I'll try changing the registry edits and see what happens though. Thanks for your suggestion.

I changed the registry for USB in the controlset001 folder. Unfortunately this didn't work, but when I also plugged the USB cable from the H100i into a different USB header on the MB then Corsair Link did indeed detect the H100i pump and fans. :)
So I don't know if it was changing USB headers alone, or if it was the combination of changing USB headers and the registry edit that did the trick. Should I change the registry edit back or is it okay to leave them at 0?

Unfortunately changing USB headers only solved half my problem as the AX1200i PSU still doesn't show up at all (unlike in Windows 7). So I have no way of monitoring my PSU temperature/fanspeed and input-output power usage. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Oh, and CL shows no temperatures for my GPU (but does show fanspeed) nor does it show temperatures for any of my drives (which it did in Windows 7)

Interesting that the h100i showed up but not the AX1200i.

Have you checked for updates for your h100i and updated to version 1.0.7? If not, you can do so by going to options, devices, then clicking check for updates.

Corsair Link can be such a pain at times. As you have said, many people have had/are having issues with CL and Win 8/8.1.

Yes. It says 'Corsair Link did not detect any devices that need to be updated'.

Maybe I should contact Corsair about the AX1200i not being detected? :??:

To be honest I'm not happy with Corsair about this at all. Windows 8.1 has been out for over 1,5 years and they still haven't bothered to fix this? To me that's just completely unacceptable. Their 'i' series of products doesn't come cheap so the least one should expect is for those products to work the way they are meant to work on a new OS within reasonable time.
I guess, the best way in the long run would be to leave Corsair Link and go for a third party software solution. But will third party software be able to control and monitor the H100i and AX1200i? Or would a hardware solution with a physical controller be able to do it?
