I recently built a gaming pc and it was working for about a day but my ping is now terrible (800-1000) games like CS:GO, Killing Floor, TF2 etc are unplayable; also to make things worse my ipad has terrible wifi when my pc is plugged in (I am using a wired connection) I need help!

Well theres your problem then. Skydrive is eating all of your internet. I think it's part of Windows 8 so go to this link if you need help stopping the service.

You probably put some files in the OneDrive folder and now it's trying to upload them to your SkyDrive.

Check your latency again once you've removed the files from SkyDrive/OneDrive or stopped the service.

Make sure windows isn't downloading updates in the background. Check if you have any programs running that might use bandwidth, like utorrent if you have that installed.

Also if you're not alone using the internet make sure it's not somebody else downloading (or uploading if your speeds are slow) while you're trying to play. Can you do a speedtest and post the results?

I do not have anything like utorrent installed i only have skype, steam and google chrome using the internet whilst im gaming, i have done many speed test and they all come up with a 10 - 50 ms ping but when i go into a game my ping rockets up to 900, there is also a kindle connected to the internet which seems to work fine.

Click "CTRL+SHIFT+ESC" then click "Resource Manager" listed under the Performance tab.

Go to "Network" and see what processes are using your internet. If you're posting screenshot, blur/black out ip/mac addresses.

Yes, but nothing out of the ordinary right? It seems the latency issue is from somewhere else. Try turning off wifi and see what CMD ping reads then.

Oh and check if you're uploading any files with Skydrive. If your upload speed is slow it will ruin your latency.

Can you tell me what values the processes have? The B/sec.
