Yeah,as the title said i am a bit confused about what to do with my chip(intel 2 extreme qx 6700).I am from greece,so i opened a thread at a greek forum and i got a bunch of different opinions that made things worse for me...I asked the community if i should give more money(for ssd and ram)into my already 9 years old, build. Some of them said yes, some of them said no but most of them said yes,so i decided to upgrade it(at the summer).Then,2 guys showed up telling me that my cpu is still really good and i should upgrade my already upgraded gpu(gtx 750ti 2gb oc windforce edition)supporting their argument by adding 4 videos of a guy being able to play all of the current games(dying light, project cars, gta v and more)with a simple c2d e8400 and a gtx 970.So now i am really confused and i dont know what i am supposed to do.Please help me...

My current build:cpu:intel 2 extreme qx 6700 ram:4gb dual channel 800mhz mobo:nvidia 680isli
gpu:gtx 750 ti psu:silverstone op750 .I wont touch the gpu,psu and my aftermarket cooler(if i upgrade).I will only change the cpu/mobo/ram.And last,i will show u the videos:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iepwZT45GDU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4ccPaY02hQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuB0C4ZDElc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R51U5gHrI14 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7DVzeRODSc

your cpu is still quite strong simply because it's easily overclockable hence the extreme suffix. the only hiccup is,fast and large ddr2 nowadays is expensive. there are lga775 chipset that support ddr3 on the market, but those are not suitable for overclocking and will hinder you performance more than the added memory speed.
it'll still be viable for under 1080p gaming but it'll be a money sink fast. so i suggest just hold the upgrade until you have enough money to completely rebuild a new computer with newer platform.
to keep it simple you should uopgrade the cpu in your rig. the gpu you have is a good entry level gaming card.
you have to think of the pc cpu like any car that out there. both a 9 year old car and a new car will do the speed limit.
the newer car has newer tech in it and will get better gas millage. the older cpu is going to me missing a lot of newer built in teck that makes newer cpu faster and use less power then the older cpu. the older 1150 cpu and mb are being replaced soon with intel skylake and 1151 mb. you should be able to find soon good prices on the older mb.

C2Q's are really starting to get old, but are still "ok" for low to mid end gaming rigs. The QX6700 in particular tends to OC very well, so if you can get it to the 3.5GHz range, it will perform similarly to entry level processors.

That being said, it's still a VERY old CPU, and I wouldn't recommend spending too much on upgrades.

You dont really need CPU upgrade for gaming, you will maybe have some problems running modern games at ultra setting, but it seems that you will be able to play any game out there at very decent fps. Your CPU @3.5Ghz have similar gaming performance of an FX-6300 oc @4,5Gh.

An intel i5 or i7 would have a better gaming performance, but with your current GPU that is irrelevant. Even with a GTX 970 it seems that your CPU will have very good performance.

So my advice is to update your GPU if you want to play at higher settings than the ones you can play right now. But since the realease of new GPUs by AMD in Intel will happen probably next month you should wait for them before you upgrade your GPU.

If you dont want to wait, a GTX 970 would be a very good upgrade.

yeah, but my cpu is 9 years old.Even if the overclock succeeds,my cpu will probably fail within 6 months.I dont really believe that a 9 years old cpu will manage to copy with an 0,8 ghz oc.I wil just manage to have a blown cpu faster :/...
