Optiplex 745 desktop ff running q6600 w/ 4x1GB G.Skillz & generic RAM

Ok, I'm typing this on my Optiplex 745 running the q6600. I tried upgrading RAM, as others have stated they have working 8GB @ 800MHz in their 745's, but I'm getting nothing. I got 4x2GB Samsung DDR2, but I get no Post with even just 1 of them in. I suppose I may have purchased one of those "AMD only" memory packages, but for the life of me I never remember seeing this Intel or AMD Only in memory until a few years ago... Anyways... I was hoping someone who has gotten modules 2GB PC2-6400 to work in their Q6600 Dell 745, please can you post what type of memory you purchased?

Oh, just as side notes. I also have an HP rp5700 POS which is pushing decently with an e7400. I could not get that one to Post with the Q6600. Interestingly I had 2x1GB GSkill and 2x1GB OCZ running in the rp5700, but the 745 won't post with the OCZ 1GB modules, nor the Samsung 2GB modules. The 2GB RAMs won't work in the rp700 either.

I purchased a Zotac GT730 low profile for the 1x PCIe slot in the rp700, now I'm running it in the Optiplex, but I'm wondering, given that it is only a 1.0 slot in the 745, would I see any performance upgrade at all by swapping in a gt(x) 750 with an 8x slot? Is there a better low profile option available for the optiplex 745?

Right, that's what I said at the beginning. My question is to find known working with 745 desktop 4x2GB DDR2, whatever speed I have to run it at. What's the best someone HAS gotten working?
