Hey, i recently bought a SSD because i wanted my PC to boot much faster ( I have Windows 8 installed on the HDD currently ). So i want to know, what is the safest and cleanest way to transfer Windows 8 over to the SSD?

Once you clone the drive over make sure you disable disk defragmentation! On a fresh install windows will automatically configure itself to disable that, I don't know if that's true if you clone it from a mechanical HD. If you leave it running it will burn up the write cycles to your SSD!

Hey there, JzpR!

There are a lot of cloning utilities out there that you can use to transfer the OS and data from the HDD to the SSD. I personally like Acronis True Image WD Edition, because it lets me select manually whatever I wish to clone. I think that there's a detailed tutorial that might be very useful to you. Here's a link: http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-migrate-to-a-solid-state-drive-without-reinstalling-windows
And here are some third-party cloning software programs suggested from the community: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1848564/hdd-cloning-software.html

Hope these help. Good luck! :)
