Is 35% usage of 8Gb RAM at idle on desktop normal?

Hi guys, not much more to add then the title really. I bought a PC prebuilt of ebay a little under 2 years ago now and I'm not sure as to the quality of my RAM and was thinking of upgrading because even games which shouldn't take all 8Gb begin to stutter (like GTA V) and when I check my usages, CPU, GPU and disk usage are all normal but my RAM is working at 95% (in and around)

Use Process Explorer or other similar utility to take a look at how much memory the stuff you have open is actually using. You may have a bunch of unnecessary stuff loaded from years of installing/removing software with some junk getting left behind.

With all the stuff I have installed on my PC, a fair bit of it being drivers and services for a bunch of hardware/software development kits, I have about 6GB in use by the time I am done booting all the way to the desktop.

If two years old I'd imagine you have a healthy number of things that load at start up and prob aren't needed, cleaning out the start up apps will cut back on the amount of DRAM being used at idle and may well increase performance a bit from having the additional free DRAM
