I recently purchased a new laptop it is less than 7 days old. The laptop I purchased is a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 series Model Number 3543. They system was made earlier this year and the specs of my system include a 5th Gen i5 processor and Intel HD 5500 graphics running on Windows 8.1 The ram used in this model is a DDR3L 1600MHZ SODIMM 204 pin. The system came shipped with a standard 4GB Ram module. Only one slot of ram is allowed in my system so I upgraded it to an 8GB Kingston HyperX Impact which was also compatible under their website and My laptop is fully reading it properly. But i'm now noticing that the computer is booting very slow also with a buffering symbol upon start up under the Dell logo which has never happened to me before with the regular 4GB ram installed. Start up is taking longer and files opening are extremely slow at first. I tried removing it and placing it back in but nothing has helped and I don't know what to do. Would really appreciate it any help to fix this problem.

The first thing I'd do is to see if there is a bios update available for your unit. The compatibility you established might be relevant only when on the latest bios version. The next thing I'd do, is go into the bios and reset to default or optimal default settings and reboot. What is your current Windows version?

The other thing is that those compatibility lists aren't always accurate, especially if it's on a vendor site rather than the motherboard or PC unit manufacturers site.

DDR3L is generally 1.35v. What is the model number of the new module? Perhaps it has a different voltage specification and cannot operate normally with the lower voltage if your system is incapable of using 1.5v modules.

My bios version is already the latest version as I checked this after installing the new ram. As for setting the Bios to optimal or default I really wouldn't know how to do that manually. I am Running Windows 8.1. I have speccy and Cpu-z installed and it's showing my voltage for this ram is 1.35 as my previous 4GB chip was. The Cas latency on my 4GB was 11 and the Cas latency on my 8GB is 9 would this be an issue or something that needs to be optimized?

Just go into the BIOS and press the appropriate function key or select "load optimal defaults" or whatever is close to that on your exit menu in the bios. You can access the bios by rapidly pressing delete, esc, f1, f2 or whatever is designated for your unit in the owners manual, immediately upon powering the unit on.
