I see a lot of info floating around when it comes to benchmarks of different storage devices. What free software (if any exists) would you recommend for benchmarking storage devices? For example, I was actually looking to test the eMMC in my new "netbook" as well as the new Micro SD card I just got for it, just to see what the speeds are looking like, and how they stack up and whatnot.

Anyone have any recommendations for software like this? It would be much appreciated! Thanks guys.

Disk Benchmark by ATTO is a free option, not pretty, but free and does the job: http://www.attotech.com/disk-benchmark/

PCMark 8 looks like it would handle what you are looking to do. It does have a $50 cost, but there is also a free demo available.

PCMark 7 is available for free but is more limited, the advanced version costs a bit more. Check it out here: http://www.futuremark.com/benchmarks/pcmark7

Hmm... I'm trying ATTO right now, but I was wondering if there was any way to do a "general" benchmark of pre-assigned values and such? As in, not setting each thing, but more testing the general performance in general circumstances, rather than tiny specific tweaks?

I guess this goes for any of them. I'll try Crystal tomorrow, 'cause it's way to late right now. Thanks for you help so far, guys.

Uh... On second thought, I could just test all of the Transfer size From "x" To "x" and then just test every length. It'll take a while, but I guess it'll give me a way better idea of the speeds.

Btw... It seems that my MicroSD, despite being a Class 10 is performing at the speed of the USB 2.0 devices I connect to it. I've read about this before, I think... That laptop cardreaders are bottlenecked to USB port speed, 2.0 in this case... Why is that? Hm...
