I've been looking for the best thermal paste aplication method for CPU, I already saw an "X" or a line, I'm thinkin on doing the "X" one because it reaches all the CPU corners. Should I use it?

Thanks

Until maybe 6 months ago, I always put my finger in a plastic bag and spread the thinnest possible coat of paste over the entire CPU. As often as I've read that a lentil-sized dot in the center works perfectly well, I switched to that method which is a lot quicker and neater. Results have been comparable, and when I've removed the HSF later, the paste appears to have spread properly.

It's down to personal preference. I use a medium sized dot in the middle and it seems to spread it out fine for me

Depends on the paste, if it's more liquid than solid, I found the x method works best,

while a thicker one is best if you spread it directly on the heatsink and spread a small amount with a plastick bag.
If it's too thick, i put a drop of alchool to help it spread better

apply a gob to cooler, use credit card to spread THOROUGHLY; then use the credit card to press it into the gaps and crevices (that you can NOT see) by pressing down and scraping with the credit card in all 4 directions. If cooler has heat pipes on contact surface, make last scrape in direction heat pipes run. When done, you should have a LIGHT glaze of thermal paste (and if pipes, some grooves of paste)

NEXT, repeat above for the cpu itself. Again, you should have a light glaze, that you can almost read the printing on the cpu thru. Use lighter pressure on cpu to avoid damaging it.

OC 4790K @ 4.7GHZ, runs DAI (DA3) at Ultra HD at temps <60C

The goal is to have the MINIMUM amount of paste to fill the invisible gaps and crevices
