I just unlocked L3 Cache on my Athlon II X4 645. Now I have a few questions.

My motherboard is the Gigabyte GA-970A-D3
Athlon II X4 645
I went to the Bios and enabled "Core Unlock" and what I found out was I enabled the 6mb L3 Cache.

What is my processor equivalent of now?
Will this be totally safe for me to enable? (I didn't do any overclocks but I only have the stock cooler)
How about performance gains?

Lucky you. You now have a Phenom II X4 945/955. Actually it falls in between the 945 (3000MHz) and 955 (3200MHz). There is no Ph II X4 that came clocked at 3100 MHz.
The addition of the L3 caches should improve gaming somewhat. Here'san article from back then that should give you an idea of how much: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/athlon-l3-cache,2416.html

I've played around with a lot of Athlon IIs and Phenom IIs over the years. They were and still are fun chips. Hard to kill. But I've managed to do it.
