I'm new to all of this and this is the 1st time I've tried to build a Gaming PC. I don't know which would be better to use. I have the Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon but didn't know if a i7 version would be better

THIS IS MY SET UP SO FAR.

Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 SC Blower 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5

Motherboard: MSI Z97 GAMING 5 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel

Power Supply: CORSAIR CX series CX750M 750W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified

The 4690k is an absolute beast, with a nice overclock it should run every title on atleast high if not ultra.

Don't forget to include a nice kit of 2x4 RAM into your build . Also a HDD or SSD, or both and a case aren't yet in your build. Just saying ;) .

Like everyone else. I would suggest the i5-4690k over the i7-4970k if you are doing strictly gaming. I have this i5 and its a total monster of a processor. I hit over 100 fps avg. in far cry for on all high settings.

I would suggest getting the i7 4970k if you are wanting to do video editing and steaming. While the i5 can do both of these, it really works the shi* out of it.

For example: Last night I was playing csgo and streaming on twitch for my friends to see. I noticed a performance decrease within my game as soon as I started streaming. It was still playable but I had to turn down the graphics settings just a tad in order to achieve that consistent smoothness, as I was getting before I started streaming. With that being said, everything was still on high settings just not completely maxed out like before.

Another note, be sure to get 16 gb of ram if you plan to do that also. While playing I had a bunch of hardware monitors and temperature monitors pulled up on my other monitor and I was using close to 50% of my ram while gaming and streaming. I have 16 gb. so if you plan to do streaming and gaming be sure to pick up the i7 and 16gb of ram.

If not, you'll do perfectly fine with the i5 and 8gb of ram. BTW: Pick up an ssd. It makes boot times incredibly faster, as well as application performance is much more solid in my opinion. My recommendation: 120 gb ssd, and 1-2 tb hdd.
