I am currently running a Windows 8.1 PC after upgrading from Windows 8.0. Now I have encountered a problem, when I insert the media disk for Windows 8.0 it rejects it as an invalid disk and refuses to install. Any ideas? I just want a quick fix for this please, thanks in advance.

I wish to restart over, fresh. I am doing as followed: Settings > Update and Recovery > Recovery > Remove everything and reinstall Windows. The I choose "Get Started" it begins to reinstall before asking for a media disk which is when I insert the Windows 8 disk I got with my PC and then I receive the error.

Right. That won't work.
You need to boot directly from the WIN 8 install media and start from there.

Alright, sorry I'm not very experienced at doing this sorta thing. Could you talk me through it please?

Assuming you have a valid Win 8.0 install media, and the license key for that:

Start the PC
Verify in the BIOS that the PC is set to boot from your DVD
Boot from the DVD
Install Win 8.0
Once done, then let it do all the updates.
If you choose (highly recommended) update to Win 8.1 again.
