hello everyone :D... this is my first PC build, and i want to ask about the CPU.. i've searched in the web and also in this community and learned a lot of things :D... anyways, i'm thinking to buy Intel Core I5 4690K but i've seen some benchmarks that makes the difference between it and I7 4790K about 10-18 FPS lol thats much...
.
.
anyways, Intel Core I5 4690K costs about 230$ and the intel Core I7 4790K costs about 339$ (on Amazon).. i found today a website called Micro Center sells intel Core I7 for 280$ lol about 60$ cheaper and it's not the only one and also sells Intel Core i7-5960X about 150$ cheaper.... my questions are :
1_ should i buy intel core i5 instead of Core I7 cause it's 100$ cheaper and is that true the diff about 15 FPS?
2_ and if the answer was i7 should i buy it from Amazon or Micro Center??.
3_ what about AMD CPUs idc about the performance i just wanna use it for gaming... BTW im gonna buy nvidia gtx 980.. (i didn't build it yet so any suggests are welcome).

Solution
I5 is still cpu so if you are on tight budget then get it....but 4 core/ 4 thread era is coming to the end. think of the future and get i7 4790k
1-there is difference between i5 4690k and i7 4790k. I7 is more for multitasking, can handle more and its somewhat future proof with headroom to OC if needed. There is few FPS increase when gaming. Also its a lot haster in encoding/ripping/compressing
2-If you have microcenter near you then buy it there. Its 50-60 cheaper. Mind you that 279 is in store price only.
3-AMD is good so far for gaming but weaker in single core performance and architecture didn't change in couple of years....so they keep refreshing with differend clock speeds but that's all about it...so its outdated...

Price-performance ratio compared to intel??? minimal between AMD and Intel.....initial price.....almost same if you buy AMD fx CPU for 139 and 280 board so you can overclock it to make it faster( with FX you will need speed).....and Intel 279 for cpu and 140 for decent board. SO no savings there.
GTX 980 is powerful but it only has 4GB Vram and that will be not enough in need future with 1440P and 4K gaming.....wait for GTX980 TI with 6GB Vram..its coming soon or get Titan or see what AMD has to offer with new R9 3XX series.

Microcenter sells for cheaper in store only so you can come in and maybe buy MOBO and ram and maybe whole build.....that's how they make money

2 980 will be enough for 4K on med to high in upcoming games with no problems..maybe slight overclock will help...R9 295x2 is great card....I used to have it and sold but if it comes to performance its great close to 2 980 and better for some other games than 2 980s but what I really liked was Mantle in BF4, amazing graphics and runs really cool on water. AMD is hot in general cause it needs more juice to power the beat but AMD is getting better with efficiency and cooling lately even on hot chips. Im still down deep AMD fan lol....reason I upgraded to intel was that AMD didn't release anything new recently just some refreshed CPUs and no recent releses in GPUs. Im waiting to se what r9 3XX series will bring.

By the way 980 TI I think is coming out in next week or so. So if you can return your 980 ( I don't know when it was purchased) then do it and get TI for few $ more. 780TI is on par with 980 nowadays.
