If your computer is shutting down within 5-60 seconds there are a few things to try before messing with bios, os and hard drives.

First of all, try simply replacing your motherboard battery.

Secondly, make sure that your cpu fan is clean and working.

Thirdly, remove cpu fan, remove cpu, scrape off the thermal compound from the heat sink and cpu using and old card and then buff both the cpu and heat sink with wire wool until shiny. Apply new arctic silver 5 (on amazon for around a fiver) thermal compound and reseat cpu and fan.

If this doesnt work, make sure your psu has enough power, for example if you have a 500w try 750w.

If you still have this issue try checking cabling is loose and not knotted anywhere, and make sure its connected properly.

If after all that is still happening then you can post on here but it would be a matter of more complex issues.

Hope this helps.

Although I agree with most of this, I'm going to take issue with the concept of using "wire wool" to clean the CPU or heatsink, coffee filters or paper towels are sturdy enough to do the job and will not damage the surfaces which would likely void any warranties - note that even using a scotch brite cleaning pad can cause some damage to the CPU surface
One other thing would be to check cables before replacing PSU

IMO, it's good info other than those two things
