hitachi 1tb hd not showing up in bios

hello >> i got new 1tb internal sata hard drive and connected it but it wasn't recognized by bios .
its not spinning ether . i have a master sata 500gb hard drive were windows xp sp3 is installed . also a 70gb ide hard drive .

other than that my pc is very old ! :
700 mb ddr1 ram
32mb graphics
2700 cpu

here's what i tried :
1 - disconnect and reconnect the device on different cables.
2 - disconnect ide hard drive to save power
3 - check bios and computer management for the hd
4 - update drives

please help >>> thanks
 
Hey there, mjo jordan.

Unfortunately if the drive doesn't spin up at all, it sounds more like the PSU can't power it up. I'd recommend that you test the drive with another computer if you have that option, just to make sure that it's not a faulty HDD and that everything's OK with it. But it sounds more like the PSU can't handle it having in mind you've tried several power cables.

thank you (vesp3r) and (Boogieman_WD) for your help and quick responses. i was able to solve my problem with the hard drive which was nothing but a loose wire on the psu ide to sata converter and now its working very good .

thank you again.
