CPU and Mobo bundle recommendations?

So, I am buying new PC components at the moment.

I just bought a new GPU, the MSI Tiger NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB OC.

I am also in need of a new CPU and motherboard.

My problem is, that I am not too sure as what is "enough", what is "more than enough" and what can only be classified as "premium".

Now I have looked at the thread for best CPU's for gaming, and I am seeing the

Intel Core i7-4790K
and
Intel Core i7-5820K

If I go for the first one I would pick the motherboard
Asrock Z97 Extreme6
or for the X99 I would chose the
MSI X99S SLI PLUS

Now, since I live in Denmark the price for Intel Core i7-4790K (aprox. $400) and Asrock Z97 Extreme6 (aprox $206) would in total be $606.

The second bundle would be Intel Core i7-5820K (aprox $456) and MSI X99S SLI PLUS (aprox $243) in total $699 + DDR4 ram.

Now, would it be worth the extra cost?

I am a student currently without a job, but with a strong interest in games. I have the money from a previous job, but I would hope to look out for my bank account.

At first glance you could say that I might get something better out of it, but not significantly, but I have no idea.
What I am also concerned about, is if the second option would last me longer than the first one. How many years do you think each combination would last respectively?

Thank you for your help.

Since your on a budget I would pass on both. Go for a K series I5 like the 4690K, you will not see a sigificant difference between that and those two other CPUs when paired with that GTX 970 and can save quite a bit of money (maybe to put towards SLI). Then down the road when its needed you can overclock it and get better slightly better FPS (or if bottlenecking the GPU, vice-versa). And for how the CPUs long will last, well that all depends on programming of the games, and as for now most duo core pentiums can game really good when overclocked and paired with a decent CPU. I dont see I5's being "outdated" for at least 5 years.

If I were you i'd get:

Intel I5 4690K
ASRock Z97 EXTREME4
Gskill Sniper 16gb (4gb x4) @1866mhz
CM Hyper EVO...

If your still want either the 4790K or 5820K I would go with the 5820K since it uses DDR4 RAM.

Why would you say that the ASRock Z97 EXTREME4 would be a better option? Other than the price?

I am a little worried about buying a cheap motherboard since the last time I did so it was the first thing to cause problems. Sometimes it doesn't register the network cable plugged into the machine.

I've had a look at the review of the Asrock extreme4 on this site, and they say that it's a toss-up between that one and the MSI Gaming 5. According to the Newegg costumers the extreme4 has been having some serious problems. A whopping 36% have only given it 1 star. The MSI Gaming 5 on the other hand has great recommendations (especially when compared to the Asrock).

And since the MSI is only $15 more expensive...

I had another question, if you don't mind. You mention some ram on your list. They operate at 1866Mhz, while what I have are some Corsair 1600 Mhz. Would you say that it is important to upgrade those, or is it really not that big of a deal? They were bought in 2011, if that helps.

One last question... :)

Since the GPU that I am currently using is Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 I can't use it for anything, can I? It would be a waste of energy to plug it into my new rig, correct?

So yea the MSI Gaming 5 may be a better choice. For the RAM just keep the Corsair 1600mhz, there wouldn't be a noticeable difference between that and the Gskill 1866mhz, just make sure you have at least 8gb now, although 16 gives you more then enough and will last awhile. The GTX 460 if you dont want to sell it and you play games like Borderlands/Batman or any other game that utilizes Nvidia PhysX you can use that card as a dedicated PhysX gpu. It will increase FPS to around 7-10 and help lower the temp of your main GPU (GTX 970) by around 2-3C since its taking over the PhysX part of the graphics.

If you do get that MSI Gaming 5 just know that you can only do 1 GPU + PhysX or 2 (same GPU) in SLI. The GTX 970 for main and the GTX 460 is fine for now if you play games that use PhysX but eventually if you do buy another GTX 970 it will greatly improve PhysX games as well as other games in FPS and graphic settings.
