This is something that is really confusing me. I am very new to GPUs and gaming PCs in general and I feel like I need clarification. I go to websites like game-debate where you can compare the specifications of GPUs, and the website actually claims that the GTX 680 is slightly more powerful than the GTX 960. That greatly confuses me.
How are series of the Geforce GTX series laid out? I assumed that the first number (so the 6 or 9) would indicate that it is much earlier and therefore less powerful. Or is the 960 actually supposed to be weaker, and that's why it has the "6" and not the "8"? Because I also compared the 680 and 970, and the website stated that the 970 was stronger than the 680 despite the middle number being lower. Or is the way Game-Debate calculates scores not accurate to the actual value of the GPUs?
