I acquired a Panasonic Toughbook CF-18 (Serial CF-18FDHZXVM) This came with no HDD but it did post so I assumed it was indeed upgradable and useable. My first order was to upgrade the RAM from the 256MB installed to a 1GB stick that I had that they said was usable (DDR PC2100) Alas in my removing of the old stick the clips that held the stick in place (that snap loose) indeed snapped off, about halfway from the base to the tip or less. the guides at the base that align the ram were intact. I continued to install the new stick, ensured it seated well and seemed to be pressed down, to lay flat on the circuit board, in good fashion by the cushion pad on the cover of the RAM access compartment. Now it refuses to post with either stick tried (old or new). Is it broken? Did the breakage of the plastic clips stop it from posting? It is well seated and is forced to lie flat by the cover. Can the clips be replaced? I have a most needed application for this laptop. Thanks in advance for any direction or advice!
