hey all i was wondering as in the title which kind of graphics card is best powered by is there any performance difference between one powered by pcie or the connector

Solution
That depends. There are very few cards that have both models, specifically the 750Ti I assume.
Given that, ones lacking the external power are better for low wattage PSUs. Those with external typically can OC better or support higher clock speeds.

Power connections however do no dictate one card being better than the other.

ah ok thanks cuz yea i was thinking about the 750 ti when i was writing this so all it excells at better voltage control or something like that?

The ones with external connections are able to run at higher speeds simply because they have the power to do so.
If you have a PSU over 400w go with the one with an external connection, anything less simply get the one without it.

400 is not an exact number, but the concept stands.

if it helps i have this card http://www.asus.com/uk/Graphics_Cards/GTX750TIOC2GD5/ it can run on pcie power alone but has 6pin power port for if you want to overclock , it also performs really well i have it underclocked to minimum and it handles skyrim on ultra at 30/40 fps at 55 degrees celcius :)
