Hello, im thinking about getting an FX 6300 with an R9 270x or a GTX 960 but people say GTXs are for intel, what will happen if i put GTX 960 with an FX 6300? will it bottlneck? how do you know if it will bottleneck?

If somebody says that, it is out of ignorance. Go with the GTX 960. There will always be a bottleneck somewhere.

dont listen to people who say such things, ask the right question and you will get the right answer
i use intel with invidia, but thats my preference, i had an amd build (amd cpu and gpu), gpu did great, cpu was always hot, but that was my experience.

Just for clarification. Intel does not make the GTX 960. It is Nvidia. AMD bought ATI (maker of the Radeon brand) in 2009. ATI made some chipsets that supported Intel CPUs but nothing recent. Intel makes their own GPUs which are now built directly into the CPU. In the past much like ATI, they were part of the chipset and independent of the CPU.

The onboard intel graphics has no effect when used in conjunction with a discreet GPU from Nvidia or AMD. You can always disable the onboard graphics (as is normally the default when using a discreet GPU) or even use them together for multi-monitor setups.

In the case of more recent Intel CPUs with HD graphics, it is even possible to use Intel QuickSync to record video with the onboard graphics while using a discreet GPU.

But the R9-280X is currently less than $200 and is better than both of those.

Hilarious enough I believe tom's did a test of this some time ago.

Turns out nvidia cards go well with amd cpu's. Somehow they lessen cpu burden a bit.

Amd gpu's run better on intel cpu's.
