Lesa Philips,

If you have a Dell computer, go to:

Download and save the User's Manual which will have information on the layout of the motherboard and connections on the front and rear panels. While you're at that site, you might also download the latest version of the BIOS for your system- make sure it's the correct one, although I think they will not install if they detect it's incorrect. Lesa Philips,

If you have a Dell computer, go to:

> and enter the model number of the system in the search window. This will take you to a list of manuals and drivers. Download and save the User's Manual which will have information on the layout of the motherboard and connections on the front and rear panels. While you're at that site, you might also download the latest version of the BIOS for your system- make sure it's the correct one, although I think they will not install if they detect it's incorrect. These are little programs that install themselves and will help your system run modern components such as video cards, hard drives, and software, and sometimes to allow the system to use more RAM and see larger capacity drives. If you are setting up a server, there are a few more complications as the RAID controller will run off a separate BIOS and drivers, and those should be updated also.

Ordinarily, the connections have plugs that are designed to fit only the correct counterpart and in the proper direction. Some are color coded too such as the mouse, keyboard, and sound.

What is the system and when you say, "rebuilding", what are you doing and what is the use for it?

Cheers,
