So I'm looking for a new 2TB hard drive and I saw a thing I've never heard of, a SSHD. I already have a 120gb SSD and I just want more storage( upgrading from 500gb). Here's the links:
http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Desktop-3-5-Inch-Internal-ST2000DX001/dp/B00EIQTKAS/
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Performance-Desktop-Hard-Drive/dp/B00FJRS628/
and the SSHD is actually $35 cheaper than the WD black drive, so which one would give me the best balance of speed and reliability? Thanks!

Solution
actually, I have 2tb sshd, its around 180 MB/s read speed normally but if you use same data 3-4 times it copies it to SSD part and gets much better speeds. So you get best of both worlds i guess. Also, once SSD part "wears out" entire disk wont die, just wont use ssd part.

Ignore the lifespan issue because there isn't one.

Sshd's work significantly better as a main os drive than as a secondary drive.
General speed is on a par with a Seagate barracuda or WD blue.
As above they do intelligently learn to cache needed files in the nand portion over time but unless you pretty much constantly play the same half dozen games or so you'll see no benefit IMO.

I don't think the WD blacks are worth the premium anyway personally.
I've used 2tb Toshiba dcct drives just lately (since they acquired wd's old manufacturing plant performance & reliability has increased considerably) & they're damn cheap ,in the UK at least.
