Hello all, for the past few hours i was trying to setup this brand new disk, i even went to post office to pick it up because they dont deliver on saturdays.
Long story short, i want it badly, and its right here, all shiny but not working

I tried everything, i pluged it into every possible sata slot, and as final test, replaced optical drive with WD disk, no luck.
Only thing i didnt try is changing from IDE mode.... Can you please help?

I have one SSD and one HD 500gb from seagate
I didnt really check if it spins because i have quite noisy computer with lots of fans going on, i suppose i can test it if needed

Motherboard is asrock z68 extreme3 gen3

This is bios screenshot, because why not...

Edit: i tried it at much older computer too, and its a same story. I will try on one more tomorrow, or else im sending it back

Edit 2: I took it to official warranty service place and it was in fact a faulty disk... so they replaced me with new one in two days... so its all cool

Solution
Hey there, bizilux!

I'm truly sorry to hear about your WD Black issues! :( However, @Someone Somewhere has a point, the WD drives go through extensive testing before getting out of the WD factories but sometimes get damaged along the way to you. I'd also suggest you to try the drive in a different computer using a different SATA cable even and see if it will get properly detected there. And yes, do try to hear if the WD drive spins up at all.
If nothing helps, I'd recommend you to contact our customer support and send your RMA request. This is a brand new drive, so you should be eligible to get a replacement. Here are a couple of useful links that might shed some light on the procedure:

Is the drive partitioned as MBR and NTFS? You can do this using disk management.

If that doesn't work, you should try going into your bios and disabling secure boot/ fast boot to check if it is detected after you save these settings and reboot.

I dont get it... How come they dont test drives in factory,? They must test them :/

They do test them. Incredibly thoroughly, in fact.

However, stuff can break in shipping, but most often it's something wrong at the user end. Have you checked that the motherboard end of the cable is plugged in properly? The power cable is in? Does the drive spin up, or show up in another PC?
